Special Weather Statement issued May 14 at 11:46AM EDT by NWS Melbourne FL At 1145 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Leesburg Airport to 7 miles west of Mascotte to near Wesley Chapel South. Movement was east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Apopka, Winter Garden, Leesburg, Eustis, and Tavares. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or hard-topped vehicle. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
